Marybank first established vineyards in the early 1840’s by the early South Australian Settlers. While the original vineyard has given in to urban sprawl, our five acre ‘Blackhill’ vineyard was planted in 1995 by the many hands and help of family & friends. The vineyard is 100% Shiraz with select parcels for our chosen vintages and the remaining fruit contributing to the Penfolds range. Our single-vineyard Marybank Shiraz is sourced purely from our western hills face, overlooking Adelaide, just twelve kilometres from the CBD. Marybank Shiraz, is hand pruned, hand picked and produced on site. Our wine is bold with an intensely deep colour. Warm savoury aromas and earthy characters, mingled with stewed plums and cherry liqueur characteristics. Fermented in 2-year-old American Oak for 14 months. It has dark black fruit with coffee grinds and dark chocolate on the palate.
