It’s just eight miles north of the Roman city of Bath (a World Heritage site) and 13 miles from the port of Bristol, with great links to the M4 & M5.Marshfield is a thriving community standing close to where three county borders meet at Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset.  This is at the southern gateway to the rolling Cotswold hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.The Catherine Wheel is a good base for visiting many must-see attractions, such as the charming, unspoiled villages of Castle Combe and Lacock, Westonbirt arboretum, as well as horse-racing at Bath and the world-famous Badminton Horse Trials. There are also many great cycles and walks in the area including the Cotswold Way and Limestone Link.Our chefs are highly regarded for creating wholesome, freshly-prepared dishes, using local produce as much as possible.The facade and front rooms were built in 1680 as an addition to a house many years older.  It became a coaching inn by 1740, the precise date unknown, and was originally known as The Star, changing its name to The Catherine Wheel in the 1780s
