8 reviews of Marius - CLOSED "I had been jonesing to go to this place from the minute I heard about. It''s got such a great location, right on the corner of Crown and Temple, that to fail--well, they would have to be Nikkitta''s. Anyways, I''ve now been here twice--once just for drinks and once for appetizers and drinks. There are two entrances. If you are eating at the restaurant you want the entrance that is right on Crown. It opens up into a really dark large space, with more of a Spanish feel than Italian. The lounge entrance is around the corner, on the Temple side. I''ve sat in the lounge both times I''ve been and it''s really cool--low lighting with neat paintings on the wall--check out the wall behind the bar right when you walk in. Seats are cosy and plentiful and the bartenders are really, really nice. Drinks: LOVED the martinis I had there(I''m on such a martini kick lately, sue me. That and vouvray--drooool). I had their special cosmo and it is so tasty. I talked my girlfriend--who doesn''t like "girly drinks"--into getting it and she loved it too. I had a cheesecake martini there as well and it was delish. Food: since I only did apps, I can''t speak for the whole menu, but I will say it has a great selection. That have raw, cold, and hot apps, as well as flatbreads--which are really pizzas. Then they have the basic Italian faire as well as some not so basic. D and I decided on a flatbread and the hot seafood sampler. Oh my gosh!!!! The seafood was PERFECT--and I am picky about my seafood. It was a mix of calamari, shrimp and sea scallops (give me bay and I will not be happy) in a spicy sauce..soooo good. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The flatbread was really good too--but we ended up not eating to much of it since we couldn''t get over the seafood. The bar in this place gets PACKED later at night, and it''s a good mix of people as well. The bartenders are very attentive though, so no problems getting a drink. I will definitely be back here..for both drinks and food. I can''t wait to check out some entrees! Oh, and if you go in the Crown entrance, look down as soon as you walk in. It''s pretty cool...."
